The Georgi Riders

The mounted procession of the Georgi Riders takes place in honour of St. George. The riders of the civil guard ride their decorated horses from Kapitelplatz to the Hohensalzburg fortress. In St. George's Chapel, a Mass is celebrated in honour of the patron saint, with a subsequent horse blessing ceremony in the courtyard. A celebration takes place in Kapitelplatz with a beer tent, food stalls and brass bands.
