Be a knight for a weekend
The imposing defense tower takes both individual visitors and families back to a bygone age. The family-friendly castle of Mauterndorf will amaze the whole family and reveal what life was like in the toll station castle centuries ago. The kids can let off steam and burn off energy on the adventure playground. There are special holiday offers and guided tours of the castle for children in which professionals bring the past back to life for up to two hours. Please note: Access around the castle is limited for children with strollers.
Children’s audio guide
Children have their own way of learning and exploring, so at Mauterndorf Castle we have developed special audio guides fully tailored to their needs. A tour of the castle therefore becomes an exciting trip back to the Middle Ages: Following in Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach’s footsteps, the children meet the residents of the castle. In the clothing room they slip into the clothes of knights and damsels and take part in the preparations for a great feast. On their journey around the castle the children ultimately even get to meet the Archbishop in person.
We currently have children’s audio guides in German, English, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech, Hungarian and Russian. Audio guides are handed out at the ticket window.
Exciting holiday program
Exciting special events are held the whole summer at Mauterndorf Castle with varied programs.
