INFORMATION ABOUT BARRIER-FREE ACCESSIBILITY
Barrier-free parking
The nearest disabled parking spaces are located at Residenzplatz 9 (6 parking spaces), Toscaninihof 1 (3 parking spaces) and Max-Reinhardt-Platz (10 parking spaces) - the bollards in front of the Festspielhaus and Mozartplatz can be operated with the Euro-key.
Barrier-free access
Barrier-free access to Hohensalzburg Fortress is possible via the fortress funicular. The entrance is located in the base station of the fortress funicular at Festungsgasse 4. It is not necessary to register in advance. The walk to the fortress is not barrier-free due to its steepness.
Accessibility in the fortress
Please be aware that there are a large number of steps, staircases and inclines that can restrict accessibility. There is unrestricted access to the panorama patio area, the bastion by the top of the funicular. A lift in the bell tower provides access to the castle courtyard, to the exhibition in the armoury, the tavern, the Kuenburg bastion and the puppet museum. Accessibility is limited in the indoor areas of the fortress.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets
Disabled toilets are located next to the Info Point and inside the fortress restaurant.
Partner dogs
Partner dogs are allowed at Hohensalzburg Fortress.
