The history of Schloss Klessheim: from pleasure palace to business location

From 1700, the Salzburg prince archbishops commissioned the construction of the palace and park complex based on designs by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, which was only completed in 1723 after a lengthy period of suspension. In the second half of the 19th century , the palace became the property of Archduke Ludwig Viktor and was extended with a winter palace, today's Kavalierhaus, according to plans by Heinrich von Ferstel. During the Nazi era, the buildings were partially converted and used for state receptions. Today, the property is leased to various companies.
